The number of apps for health, fitness and diet purposes that you can use on your smartphone has grown exponentially in recent years. The use of wearable technology has more than tripled in the past four years. Wearables – which started out as handy gadgets that tell you how many steps you take in a day and how many calories you burn – are now not only used by consumers, but are also increasingly recommended by healthcare professionals.Especially since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, more and more healthcare professionals are open to virtual healthcare and/or plan to invest in new digital technologies in the near future. As a result, it will soon be possible not only to have consultations with a healthcare professional from behind your laptop or tablet, but all kinds of wearables and devices that allow patients’ clinical data to be transmitted (heart rate, blood pressure, etc.) will also become commonplace. Today we see more and more smart devices that not only collect and transmit data, but also analyse it. This has advantages for both the patient and the healthcare professional: more frequent and better monitoring, ease of use, efficiency and time savings.
At Pro Well we are proud that for our BMI27+® programme we work with our Pro Well Lifestyle app for all our customers. Through the Pro Well Lifestyle app we can personally coach our customers with their eating plan and exercise programme, and both we and the customer can monitor daily food intake, physical activity, weight and other health parameters and adjust them where needed.
In addition, the app offers a community that supports and encourages, and the option to book a digital appointment with one of our Pro Well Food Coaches and/or exercise coaches.
